After a bumper Term 2, new Sisters and Brothers teams have been assembled and are ready to commence for Term 3.
Last term we had very successful interventions at St. Martins de Porres Avondale Heights, Fitzroy PS, Kensington PS and Mount Alexander Secondary College. We also conducted evaluation at Ascot Vale West PS, Melton Secondary College and Dinjerra PS;
Across two primary schools which completed a 6 month evaluation, total of 90 respondents, 95.56% report a willingness and confidence to intervene in a situation of race-based discrimination.

We look forward to expanding the family this term and working collaboratively with Annunciation PS in Brooklyn led by Team Leader Yaw Dadzie and Sacred Heart PS lead by Team Leader SK Simeon. Furthermore we are training new young arts facilitators as demand for this important work keeps advancing. This is exciting as we particularly target young women to be change makers in the community. Finally a big congratulations to the team and new team leaders who have done excellently in bringing each school to a performance outcome for all respective learning communities.

We leave you with some works taken from an application by a student to their teacher to be chosen as a Sisters and Brothers Peer Facilitator at Kensington PS last term:
“I have picked up the skills of Sisters and Brothers and used them ever since. I have solved a few racism problems. I’m even making a poster of them: I go on their website and read more news about them, a spot in my heart is all about those amazing people. This awesome team never lets you down. I know how it feels like to have someone being racist to me”
